Pathways to Skilled Trades will give participants the opportunity to explore Skilled Trades and allow participants to gain valuable information on the skill trade they are interested in. This is a great program for participants to start networking with the right people. This program is primarily for participants interested in exploring the trades and want to learn how to securing a job in the skilled trades

  • Pathways to the Trades is a FREE 4-week program targeting clients who are interested in exploring the trades, and securing a job in skilled trade sector. This specialized program aims to help you make a successful transition into the trades. You will get support through various courses available to you by Skills Council of Canada and individualized learning plans, advising, mentoring, career exploration, and skill building offered by Skills for Change. You will complete safety training and some other certifications such as First Aid and Working at Heights. In addition, you will be provided with mentoring support and the opportunity to hear from people already in the trade. You will learn about the apprenticeship process, available funds for apprentices, time management, budgeting, and any other employment related topics.

  • 1. Academic Upgrading

    2. Equivalent of Level 1 Skilled Trades Apprentice training as well as exposure to Various Sectors of Skilled Trades.

    3. Employment preparation training

    4. Emergency First Aid/CPR Certificate training

    5. Working at Heights Certificate training

    6. All textbooks, safety training, small tool kit, and safety equipment are included – free of charge

    7. Employment support for paid work placement goes here

  • Applicants who are 18 years of age or older, live in Toronto or GTA, and are eligible to study & work in Ontario Secondary School (Ontario Grade 12) diploma, or equivalent, at or above the general level

    Training Start Date: October, 2023

    *Selection of successful applicants will be based on a measurable commitment to the training program and a the goal of registration as a Welding apprentice or registration in a related trade (such as Automotive Service Technician)
