EMPLOYER OUTREACH SPECIALIST

SfC’s Peel location serves internationally-trained tradespeople (ITTs) who are looking for employment in their field and want to obtain a license in their trade. The program provides the participants with the necessary technical preparation needed to pass the C of Q exam administered by the Ontario College of Trades (OCOT). We also provide trade-specific language instruction, job search preparation and mentoring or workplace experience placements. The Employer Outreach Specialist will establish communications networks to proactively deliver opportunities to SfC and its clients directly. More

Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) funds SfC building renovations

In 2012, Skills for Change was granted, through OTF's Community Capital Fund (CCF), $194,500 over one year to make energy and safety upgrades, As part of the project, over 3,000 square feet of 3rd floor meeting, classroom and office space received new drop-down ceilings, upgraded high efficiency lighting and fresh paint. More

SfC Programs for Youth

Youth Employment Fund (YEF)

Ontario is providing up to $7,000 to cover a range of supports and services for each eligible young worker under the fund. That includes up to $6,000 to help cover wage and training costs, and up to $1,000 to help young workers pay for job-related costs like tools and transportation to work. The fund is part of the new Ontario Youth Jobs Strategy, which will help more young people find jobs or start their own businesses, and ensure that employers can find the skilled workers they need to grow their businesses. More
