Workplace Career Connections Program

The Workplace Career Connections Program (WCCP) is a 5-week program that prepares and equips newcomers, job seekers, and underemployed workers to understand workplace culture in Canada, utilize interpersonal skills as a primary job search strategy, and most importantly, secure work contracts and advance their careers in Canada's diverse environment.

During the program, you may qualify for our childminding services.

  • • Intermediate English (CLB 6+ test required)

    • Live in the Greater Toronto Area

    • One of the following citizen statuses:
    - Permanent Resident
    - Convention Refugee
    - Ukrainians under the CUAET program (all professions). All Ukrainian temporary residents and their dependents in Canada are deemed eligible.

    Ineligible individuals:

    • Refugee Claimants

    • Individuals with Work Permits

    • Individuals with Study Permits

  • The program components will include:

    Listening, Reading, Writing & Public Speaking
    Sector-Specific Terminology
    Workplace Communication & Culture

    Job Search Assistance

    Professional Resume & Cover Letter Interview Preparation & Cold Calling Techniques
    Networking & Mentoring (Employment & Language)

    Paid Job Placements & Supports Available*

    One on One Employment Coaching Credentials Assessment, Testing & Re-Training
    Training & Employment Subsidies


    Additionally, you will learn about the Canadian labour market:

    • Discover opportunities for career growth based on current job market trends.

    • Join sessions on our unique employer engagement, including a guide to our SfC job board.

    • Get direct access to job openings.

    • Stay updated with the latest job market trends.

    • Hear firsthand from our employer partners in special sessions.

    • Be inspired by success stories from our former clients.

    • Information sessions specific to different industries (for example, HR and Marketing)

    • Discuss real business scenarios, exercises, and projects led by industry experts.

    • Explore opportunities for paid and unpaid job placements.

  • Training model: Hybrid

    Duration: 5 weeks

    Schedule:

    Mondays and Fridays: Online

    Tuesdays/Wednesdays, and Thursdays: In-person

    Location: 791 St. Clair West

    Time: 9:30 am - 2:30 pm

  • Agency Registration:

    When you sign up for this program, you become a Skills for Change client, and cannot simultaneously be registered with another employment agency.

    If you've participated in a previous program, please request the closure of the previous agency file before enrolling in Skills for Change.

  • We have information sessions taking place every month. In these information sessions, you can meet the Instructor and/or an Employment Specialist and ask any remaining questions.
