• Skills for Change offers an accessible technology training program to assist Black Seniors in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton (GTHA) region. G.R.O.W. will help and teach older adults to enhance their technology and mental wellness proficiency.

    The GROW Program is supported by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, which is an 8-week program that is used to enhance their experience with technology. This will serve the Black Seniors in the GTHA region.

  • Weekly one on one support on navigating technology and device

    Familiarize yourself with the settings of your device and become an Internet expert by gaining hands-on experience with web-based applications

    Develop an understanding of distinguishing and preventing internet scams, computer viruses and identity protection.

    Connecting with others through social and mental wellness activities

    Creating a safe space to explore how Black seniors are affected by their experiences in Canada.

  • Must identify as a Black person or of African descent

    Senior ages (55+)

    Resides in or around the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)

    Has an interest in gaining more knowledge of the 21st-century technology

    Beginner/intermediate technology skills

    Thursdays: 1pm-2:30pm @ Malvern Family Resources Center - Weekly (Launching July 13th 2023- August 31st 2023)

    Thursdays: 3pm-4:15pm @ Virtual Online Sessions - Bi-weekly ( May 18th, 2023 - August 24th, 2023)

  • Equip with the necessary tools to understand the digital world

    Creating a learning path in understanding technology to improve communication skills

    Receiving hands-on experience and one-on-one support on safe practices with the internet and technology

    Engaging in conversations with younger generations about technology

    Receiving tips and tricks on best practices for communicating and connecting with family and friends
