- For
the 1999 United Way CN Tower Stairclimb on October 17, ten individuals
collected pledges for this challenging and fun event. In total, Skills
for Change employees and friends managed to raise $1,207.27. Our
record time was achieved by Brigid Kelso who beat her personal best
from last year by just over two minutes.
-
- New to our team this year was Steve Chaffey,
a friend of Skills for Change. His final total of money collected was $340
-- an SfC Skills for Change record. Outstanding Steve! We hope to have you
on the team next year.
-
- Our climbers speak:
-
- "I broke my personal
record from last year by 7 minutes!!"
Kamal
-
- "It is very intimidating
from the base of the tower. For weeks I thought I was crazy to commit
to the climb. Once I got going and finished, it is the most incredible
feeling! I can't wait to try again next year and beat my time." Lisa
-
- "I've climbed the CN tower for
United Way four times and I think they keep adding a few stairs every year.
I could have sworn the first year there were a only 1,769. I admit I lost
count after the first 1,000. This year they claim there are 1776!
-
- It's a great way to raise money for
a worthy cause. It's also a great way to challenge yourself a little more
each year while trying to beat your own personal record." Brigid
Kelso, 18 min. 4 sec.
-
- "It's important to do something
useful and fun. It was my
first time and I climbed in 16 minutes and 50 seconds." Carlo
