The United Way
CN Stair Climb
1998
On October 18, 1998 Skills for Change staff climbed the 1,776 steps of the CN Tower in support the United Way of Greater Toronto’s fundraising efforts (now in its 21st year).

To the top!It seemed this year SfC Staff were inspired by the IMAX movie on the Himalayas as there was a record breaking number of 17 climbers on the team. The team included Angel, Asha, Bruno, Cellan, Eileen, Faduma, Gee-jun, Jeff, Kamal, Katie, Liban, Mark, Marlene, Oi-ying, Paul, Susan and Teresa.

The ascent began at 11:07 AM and in less than 49 minutes all climbers had reached the summit.  Susan was our quicket climber reaching the top in 24 minutes.all climbers had reached the CN Tower summit. Unlike the Himalayas, the conditions at the summit were "warm and humid." It was then time to take the 58 second descent on CN Tower elevator for a complimentary light breakfast.

SfC staff, friends and volunteers were proud to take part in this event once again. We helped raise $630 toward Skills for Change’s employee goal of $3,200 and the United Way’s goal of raising $400,000 from the CN Tower climb.
