The United Way
Book Sale
1998
This year we held a book sale to help raise money toward our United Way campaign. Staff and clients donated hundreds of books in many languages.

We raised $270 the day of the sale. The books were on sale the following week for 10 cents a piece and so far we have raised more than $320. A special thanks goes to the staff who coordinated the event and to everyone who participated by giving or buying books
Browsing through the books with a cup of hot coffee and a home baked goodie was a perfect early start to the Thanksgiving weekend. The most popular books were about computers, mystery novels and contemporary non-fiction. The most intriguing selection of books were mystery and romance novels published in the 40's, 50's and early 60's. A gentleman from a local second hand bookstore paid us a visit and purchased a variety of books.

Photos: Kamal and Pippa, busy organizing the event and buying books. A group of students on their break pop in to take a look at the books. Kamal relaxes with some coffee and discusses Cellan's purchase. This woman seems to be collecting for a library! Another group of people looking as what was available.
