Bill Waicus, SfC
Operations Manager; Teresa Damaso, External Relations Manager at
Toronto Lakeside Service Centre Canada; Jane Cullingworth, SfC
Executive Director |
Tuesday, September 26, 2006 will be remembered as a banner day in
the history of the Skills for Change ERC.
On that morning, the Centre provided a warm welcome to a number of
distinguished guests, who helped us mark the start of operations at
our new location. We are now located at 1139 College Street West, just
west of Dufferin.
Ribbon-cutting honours were shared by three people who played a key
role in making our beautiful Centre possible: Teresa Damaso,
External Relations Manager at Toronto Lakeside Service Canada
Centre, Skills for Change Executive Director Jane Cullingworth, and
our agency’s Operations Manager Bill Waicus. A particular thank you
to Service Canada for their support and funding of our new centre.
The architect of the new ERC, David Fujiwara, and our contractor Max
Tischler, also received accolades for their fine work in designing
and putting into operation our new facility.
Guests from the community, as well as members of the SfC family,
joined in this momentous event. Now we can all look forward to many
years of productive and enjoyable work in our new home! We will be
planning an open house later in the fall – stay tuned for details.

NPA
Call for Nominations |
Skills for Change
proudly presents
the
15th Annual New
Pioneers Awards
(NPA) “Celebration of Diversity”

Thursday, March 22, 2007 Metro Toronto Convention Centre
Invitation for NPA Nominations
|
Many years ago, Skills for Change
recognized the need to raise public awareness about the
contributions made by immigrants and refugees to Canadian
communities. As a result, we created the New Pioneers Awards as a
vehicle to positively and publicly recognize newcomers and their
achievements. On March 22nd, 2007, we will host our 15th Annual New
Pioneers Awards gala event - celebrating the outstanding
accomplishments of immigrants and refugees who now call Canada
“home.”
Do you know someone who is an immigrant to Canada and who has
significantly contributed to our GTA community?
If yes, we invite
you to nominate these outstanding immigrants or refugees for
recognition in one of the following 6 NPA Award categories:
|
- Arts
-
Community Service
-
Entrepreneurship
|
-
Science and Technology
- Youth
- Skills
for Change Graduate

speak to Samantha Koon at
416 658-3101 ext. 231, or email
