How to Apply to SfC Courses and Programs

You must book an appointment for an Orientation and Assessment Session.

To do this, call our...
 
  • Information Line (416 658-7090), Monday through Friday, between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., or,
     
  • Main Line (416 658-3101 ext. 0), Monday through Thursday, between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., or,
     
  • Main Line (416 658-3101 ext. 0), Saturday,
    between 10:00 a.m. and 12 noon.

ESL/Customer Service Program
Schedule: Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Start Date: February 16, 2004
Length: 8 Weeks

Employment Preparation for Retail Services
Schedule: Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Start Date: January 5, 2004
Length: 12 Weeks

ESL/Intermediate Bookkeeping
Schedule: Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Start Date: December 13, 2003
Length: 12 Weeks

ESL/Introductory Bookkeeping
Schedule: Monday to Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Start Date: November 10, 2003
Length: 10 Weeks

ESL/Keyboarding
Schedule: Monday and Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Start Date: November 10, 2003

ESL/Medical Terminology
Schedule: Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

ESL/Microsoft Office

ESL/Work Search for Foreign-Trained Engineers
Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Start Date: January 6, 2004
Length: 6 Weeks

Facility Fee
Skills for Change charges a $40, non-refundable Facility Fee for each course taken.

QACT Students Pass ASQ Exams

Several students who finished the QUALITY ASSURANCE AND CONTROL TRAINING class of July 5, 2003 passed the certification exams which were given by the American Society for Quality in October 2003.

These are Mauricio Tortello, Khodor Alnaal and Ali Bin Taleb, who took and passed the Quality Technician certification exams. CONGRATULATIONS!

The next class of QACT will start in January 17, 2004. Enrollment is on-going. Those interested for the next class should attend the Orientation and Assessment Session on December 11 at 4 pm to be held at SfC, 791 St. Clair Ave. Resume should be brought to the session. n Job Search Workshop (JSW)
From April 2002 to March 2003, the job search workshop provided services to 294 clients. Of those 208 clients (70%) found employment within 6 months after completing the program. The clients we serve are mainly IT professionals, Engineers, Accountants, Healthcare Professionals, Teachers, Marketing and Sales Associates.

The next job search workshop begins on Monday, December 8, 2003.


n Sector Terminology Information & Counselling (STIC)
Darshak Vaishnav was interviewed by radio host Andy Berry on the Metro Morning radio program, October 22, 2003. Darshak spoke about his perspective on issues and barriers faced by the internationally-trained newcomers on finding suitable employment in Canada.

n Clerical Employment Services (CES)
We say goodbye to our dedicated Volunteer Assistant, Roberto Baca who moves on to brighter pastures as a communications intern. We wish him success and will miss the tremendous help he gave to our program.

Welcome Michele Rennard, a student from Bring Employment Specialists to Tomorrow (B.E.S.T.), a pilot program developed by JVS Toronto. Michele’s four week practicum with us will focus on her developing skills as a’ workforce development consultant.
