Volume I.  Issue 4.  December 11, 2000
Skills for Change (SfC) is a non-profit agency based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  Our mandate is to "provide learning and training opportunities for immigrants and refugees so that they can participate in the workplace and wider community".
ICAO
Skills for Change is proud of its association with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario (ICAO). Our clients benefit from the monthly 'Information Sessions for Internationally Trained Accountants' that are sponsored and conducted by the ICAO. This year, in response to the many questions we receive from newcomers interested in pursuing a career in the accounting field, we are introducing the facility of a "Question and Answer" page on our web site. An ICAO representative will answer the questions submitted.

Links We Recommend
Chantal Symes, STIC Employment Counsellor, writes..

The link I recommend is wiredhired.com. This one-of-a-kind Canadian website is the online cousin to the book "Get Wired, You're Hired" by Mark Swartz. Mark, a Toronto-based career consultant, very carefully adapted this website from the book to provide job seekers with the tools, guidance and information to successfully conduct their Internet job search.

The section of this website that I am more familiar with is entitled: "Career Links For ADULTS SEEKING WORK". Reviewing this link will introduce the reader to a pool of websites useful for career practitioners and their clients, including sources of industry information, how to prepare an electronic resume, and company information for those who are target marketing.

My perception is that wiredhired.com is a comprehensive resource, suitable for many client groups. It provides job seekers with up to date information on training programs, skills development, occupations and job search techniques to navigate the world of work independently in the 21st century.
