Enhanced Language Training

Enhanced Language Training is an intensive five week program that helps raise your English proficiency and assists you in finding work in your field. We offer four streams during the year: engineering, accounting, health care, and information technology.  If you are an internationally educated professional, and finding your level of English proficiency is preventing you from holding a position matching your experience, occupation specific language training can help you to get to the next level.

ESL: Advanced English for Professionals | $55

This Advanced English course for Internationally Educated Professionals targets high-level language skills needed for success in the workplace, with a focus on communication and culture. Course content includes, extensive pronunciation practice, effective language for interviews and professional communication, common idioms and collocations, a review of English proficiency tests (IELTS) and more.

ESL: Intensive English | $55

The ESL: Intensive English course is designed to help students improve their four English language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Build your fluency as you review grammar structures and learn new vocabulary and idioms. The objective is a noticeable improvement in English communication skills.

Is this for me?

This course is for intermediate ESL learners. Prerequisites: CLB 5-6, live-in caregiver, permanent resident, convention refugee, refugee claimant or Canadian citizen

ESL: Clerical Accounting | $55

Develop your English language and communication skills through the study of accounting principles, computer skills and job search strategies. This course is intended for anyone who speaks English as a Second Language and has little accounting or office experience. If you have an education in accounting from another country, but have never worked in the field or are changing your career to accounting from another field, then this program is for you. 

Is this for me?

Prerequisites: CLB 5-7, keyboarding at 25 wpm; meets eligibility criteria.

ESL: Customer Service | $55

The English as a Second Language (ESL): Customer Service Program will help you improve your English and communication skills while developing an awareness of customer service principles. In this program, you will examine various types of customers, as well as their expectations, and develop a service management strategy to ensure service quality. You will also practice the customer service skills necessary for any work environment.

Learn medical terminology while developing your English language skills. This course introduces the essentials of medical terminology along with basic concepts of medical science and practice. You will work to enhance your English proficiency and develop specific communication skills necessary to work in a medical environment.

ESL: English for Academic Purposes | $55

The goal of this class is to develop the language skills and confidence needed to successfully pursue academic studies. You will refine your grammar in speaking and writing, and practice techniques for effective listening and reading. This course will also help familiarize you with language common to academic texts and develop strategies for successful test-taking.

TOEFL Preparation | $55

This course is designed to help you prepare for the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). You will practice the testing procedures and focus on listening comprehension, written expression, reading comprehension and the test of written English (TWE).
