About mentoring

About mentoringMentoring for Change includes professional, settlement and language mentoring. For over 18 years, we've been connecting qualified mentors with people who want to learn from the experience of others.

The Mentoring for Change program matches internationally educated professionals (mentees) with individuals who have a strong background in the same professional field coupled with years of Canadian experience (mentors). Mentors provide information on labor market trends, accreditation and licensing procedures, and offer support and guidance to help mentees in their efforts to settle in Canada and ultimately find employment in their professional field.

In order to extend our reach to include more participants, we have built our program on an e-mentoring foundation. The portal makes it easy to join our program, and once you are active, it keeps your mentoring activities and contacts all in one place. You will receive important prompts and reminders, and you can correspond directly from the portal.

With 100s of success stories, we know that mentoring support for newcomers works.  We encourage you to participate in mentoring by registering as a mentor or a mentee.

Find a mentor

If you are engaged in any program at Skills for Change, you qualify for the program. Be sure to discuss this opportunity with a counsellor, or register via our e-mentoring portal.

Be a mentor

We are always looking for great people who want to volunteer their time as a mentor. We host mentor orientation meetings once per month. You can register for the program directly via our e-mentoring portal.

Seniors

The Seniors Mentoring Entrepreneurs (SME) program enables clients (mentees) to get professional guidance from mentors on starting their own businesses in Canada.

Skills for Change’s Seniors Mentoring Entrepreneurs (SME) will engage seniors as mentors in fields including small business, retail, B2B and provide specialized support in areas such as e-Business and small scale manufacturing.

Mentors will act in an advisory capacity to guide entrepreneurs to empower their business proposals and help their business venture come to fruition. e
