Job Search Workshop (JSW)

The Job Search Workshop helps newcomers find employment in their field in the shortest possible time by offering the following:
 

Job Search Workshops (Day, Evening or Saturdays)
  • Targeted resume and cover letter writing
  • Interview skills including video taping of mock interviews
  • Cold calling and Networking
  • How to overcome the barrier of “No Canadian Work Experience”
  • Strategies to tap the Hidden Job market
  • Workers rights and Employment standards
Individual Counselling
  • Assistance to find Paid jobs and Work Experience Placements
  • Individual cold calling and interview coaching
Mentoring
  • Mentoring matches to guide the job search process
  • Exposure to professional network contacts and Canadian workplace culture
Free Childcare
  • Free childcare services for Evening and Saturday Workshops for children between 19 months to 12 years.
Other benefits
  • Access to the Internet, Computers, Telephones and Fax machine for Job Search.
  • Free Settlement Services
  • Suitable referrals to other Skills for Change services and external resources
  • Participate in Networking Events, Field Trips
  • Become a member of Skills for Change
Eligibility
  • Landed Immigrant, Convention Refugee, Live in Care giver with Intermediate level of English

When is it held?
Orientation Sessions are held Tuesdays at 3.00 p.m.
 

Daytime

Day time workshop runs 5 sessions in 1 Week
Monday to Friday 9.30 a.m. to 2. 30 p.m.
Next start date: June 2

   

Evening

Evening Workshop runs 6 sessions spread over two weeks
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 5.30 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.
Next start Date: May 12

   
Saturday Saturday Workshops runs 4 sessions spread over 4 weeks
Saturdays 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.
Next start Date : August 2
