ESL Courses

Our English as a Second Language daytime, evening and Saturday courses are offered in partnership with the Toronto District School Board and the Toronto Catholic District School Board.


The intake for these ESL Courses continues throughout the session. Please call (416) 658 - 7090, Monday to Friday, between 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. or Monday to Thursday between 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., or Saturday, between 10 a.m. - 12 noon or (416) 658-3101 ext. 0 to make an appointment.
 

 

ESL/Accounting and Computer Skills for Immigrant Women

The ESL/Accounting and Computer Skills for Immigrant Women program is intended for immigrant women who speak English as a Second Language and have little accounting or office experience. If you have an education in accounting from other countries but have never worked in the field, and are changing your career to accounting from other fields, this program is for you.

Develop English language and communication skills through the study of accounting principles, computer skills and work search strategies, including how to prepare a resume and cover letter, and understand job ads. Eligibility or prerequisite(s): CLB 5 – 6, keyboarding @ 25 wpm.

Improve your English language and communication skills while developing an awareness of generic customer service principles and practicing the customer service skills necessary for any work environment. Students examine various types of customers as well as their expectations and develop a service management strategy to ensure service quality. Eligibility or prerequisite(s): CLB 6 – 7

     

ESL/English for Academic Purposes

The goal of this class is to develop the language skills and confidence needed to successfully pursue academic studies. Students will expand their vocabulary and develop accurate grammar in speaking and writing. They will also develop advanced listening and reading skills.

During the class, students will develop portfolios of language study and learning. These portfolios will help the students develop independent learning skills and will be used by the instructor to assess the student and suggest further study.

Through a wide range of authentic material and course texts, students will become familiar with the language used in topics common to academic texts and develop strategies for successful test taking.  Eligibility or prerequisite(s): CLB 6.
