Employment Resource Centre (ERC)

The Skills for Change ERC provides job seekers with easy access to resources and services that will help you find employment. We offer: 20 computers with MS Word, Publisher and Win Way Resume Writer, high-speed Internet access, and printers. To help you Fast Track your job search, our friendly and experienced staff facilitate workshops on various topics including Interview Skills, Resume and Cover Letter Writing, Researching Employers, and Networking. We can also refer you to other valuable community resources. Guest speakers share their professional expertise through our popular Special Speaker Series.

Contacting employers is an essential part of the job search process. At our Centre you have access to phones, fax machines as well as a high-end quality photocopier. Our reference library of job search books, business directories, videos, small business resources, labour market information, career planning, and skills training information are available to you so that you can get started on or accelerate your path to success.

Although SfC ERC services are intended for members of the community who are able to conduct a job search independently, we realize that many people may benefit from individual coaching. You may receive help with writing resumes and cover letters, developing professional portfolios and business cards, and researching employers and labour market needs. You will get lots of practice in networking, contacting employers by telephone and promoting yourself in an interview.
