2013-2014 Leaders in Residence application is out!

We are in search of the next Leaders in Residence to take their own innovative ideas into actions that lead to social change. This is a one-year program that provides a $5,000 start-up stipend to help LIRs in rolling out their projects. Read below and feel free to apply! We will be accepting applications until Monday, April 15 (a fair chance for the brilliant crammers who could really use that extra weekend).

Please contact Andrew Chung at chung@skillsforchange.org or at 647.648.8100 for any questions you might have.

2013 – 2014 Leaders in Residence Application
Immigrant Women in Leadership

As a Leader in Residence, you are a self-starter and not afraid to think outside the box. You are open to feedback and learning in unconventional ways and always finding opportunities to keep growing. You are able to push an idea forward by bringing the right people together, getting the conversation started and mobilizing communities to join you in a worthwhile cause.

Your outstanding communication and public speaking skills coupled with a strong sense of justice and awareness of social issues affecting immigrant women make you a force to be reckoned with no matter who’s asking you the tough questions.

You love ideating and always back up your ideas with research. You can express complex ideas in simple, digestible ways that would make rocket science look as easy as putting Velcro shoes on.

You’re an immigrant woman with a holistic understanding of what leadership means in the workplace, at home and in the many communities around you. You have a story to tell and through your skills and experience, have an idea about an interesting way to tell it, and ultimately, towards driving social change and advancing the interests of immigrant women in leadership.

Do you think this could be you? We think so, too. Here is what we need from you:

  1. Tell us about yourself and the one big, achievable idea you have that you think will change the world and the steps you would take to make it all happen (max. 3 pages)
  2. A copy of your resume/CV
  3. 3 references who can attest to your ability

Candidates who are selected will be invited for an interview with the Internal Advisory Committee.

We look forward to meeting the tip-of-the-iceberg you.

Ready to send? Please e-mail your story and address it to the following:
