Construction and Maintenance Program (CMEP) |
Skills for Change, in partnership with the
City of Toronto - Toronto Social Services
Division, is offering a new program that will
enable Construction and Maintenance
Electricians to hasten their entry as
journey persons in their fields by
leveraging their experience and education.
The CMEP program provides hands-on
training and exam and employment preparation
that will lead to obtain a Certification of
Qualification (CQ) and full time employment
in their fields.
TRAINING COMPONENTS
Module I:
▪ Sector Overview and Orientation
▪
Occupational Terminology and Communication
▪
Labour Market Information
▪
Career Planning and Job Search
▪
Individual Counselling and Job Development
▪
MS Office and Internet
TECHNICAL HANDS-ON TRAINING AND EXAM
PREPARATION
Module II:
▪
Technical Training in the areas of
Construction and Maintenance Electrician
▪
Trades Regulation and Certification
▪
Exam Preparation
PRACTICAL WORK PLACEMENT
(Paid or Unpaid):
▪
6 weeks of work placement in Construction and
Maintenance Electrician fields
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
▪
Landed Immigrant, Convention Refugee &
Canadian Citizen
▪
Canadian Language Benchmarks level 7
▪
Familiar with MS Office
▪
5 years of work experience in construction &
maintenance electrician fields
▪
Willingness to commit to entire duration of
program
▪
Currently on Social Assistance
Course
Duration:
September 4, 2007 to January 4, 2008
Days: Monday - Friday
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
