The
ESL/Accounting and Computer
Skills for Immigrant Women
program is intended for immigrant women who
speak English as a Second Language and have
little accounting or office experience.
If you have an education in accounting from
other countries but have never worked in the
field, and are changing your career to
accounting from other fields, this program
is for you.
Develop English language and communication
skills through the study of accounting
principles, computer skills and work search
strategies, including how to prepare a
resume and cover letter, and understand job
ads.
Graduates of this program may be eligible to
join the
Clerical Employment Services
program.
The Program
The 14 week, 280 hour program consists of
the following modules:

Steps in Accounting Cycle
including merchandising
business, special journals, and
payroll calculations as well as
related accounting terminology
and principles
-
Word XP including formatting of
business letters, memos, and
other common office tasks
-
Excel XP including formulas,
functions, and using
spreadsheets for accounting
tasks
-
Job Search skills including
resumes, cover letters, and job
ads.

Duration and Hours
The program is 14 weeks long. Classes are
held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday,
9:30 a.m. to 3:00
p.m.

Prerequisites and Registration
CLB 5 – 6, keyboarding @ 25 wpm.

between 10:00 a.m.-12 noon.
Skills for Change charges a $40,
non-refundable/non-transferable Facilities
Fee for each course taken.
